Trusted HVAC Services
Across Pasco County
From New Port Richey to Wesley Chapel, Vortex Heating & Cooling keeps Pasco County comfortable year-round. Family-owned, licensed, and backed by over 24 years of HVAC expertise — we're the local team that treats you like a neighbor, not a ticket number.
Someone You Can Trust!
Bill & Krystal Hanna have built Vortex on a simple promise: honest pricing, expert work, and technicians who show up on time. That's it.
Keeping Pasco County Comfortable in Florida's Heat
Living in Pasco County means dealing with one of the most demanding climates in the country for HVAC systems. Humidity levels that hover near 90% for months at a time, heat indexes above 105°F, and the constant threat of summer storms — your air conditioning isn't just a comfort, it's a necessity.
Vortex Heating & Cooling was founded right here in Port Richey because this community deserves an HVAC company that truly understands what Florida living demands. We've seen how quickly a failed AC in July becomes a health emergency, how salt air from the Gulf accelerates system corrosion, and how the right equipment choice can mean the difference between a system that lasts 8 years and one that runs strong for 18+.
Whether you're in New Port Richey, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Hudson, or anywhere in between, Vortex delivers factory-trained technicians, honest upfront pricing, and the kind of service that earns referrals from your neighbors.
HVAC Services We Provide Throughout Pasco County
From emergency repairs to full system replacements, Vortex handles every aspect of your home or commercial HVAC needs — all under one roof, all backed by our commitment to quality.HVAC Service & Repair
When your AC stops working in a Pasco County summer, you don't have time to wait days for a technician who treats your call like a number in a queue. Vortex Heating & Cooling offers fast, reliable HVAC service and repair for both residential and commercial customers throughout Pasco County — with technicians who diagnose the actual problem rather than defaulting to the most expensive fix. Bill and his team carry common parts on every truck so most repairs are completed in a single visit, and every repair comes with honest upfront pricing before any work begins. Whether it's a refrigerant issue, a failed capacitor, a blower motor, or a system that simply isn't keeping up, we find the root cause and fix it properly. We service all major brands, and if your system is under warranty, we know how to protect it.
New HVAC Installation
Installing a new HVAC system in a Florida home requires more than just swapping equipment — it requires a technician who understands how heat load, humidity, and airflow interact in our specific climate. Vortex starts every new installation with a proper Manual J load calculation to ensure your system is sized correctly from day one. An oversized unit short-cycles and leaves your home muggy; an undersized one never keeps up. We get it right the first time, and back it with a clean professional install that protects your manufacturer warranty. Free estimates on all new HVAC installations.
HVAC System Replacement
If your system is over 10–12 years old, constantly breaking down, or driving your energy bills through the roof, replacement is almost always the smarter investment over continued repairs. Vortex will give you an honest assessment — we'll tell you straight whether a repair makes financial sense or whether it's time to move on. When replacement is the right call, we help you select an energy-efficient system built to handle Pasco County's heat and humidity, install it to manufacturer specs, and haul away your old equipment. Free second opinions always available — no pressure, no games.
HVAC Equipment Sales
Choosing the right HVAC system for a Florida home goes beyond brand names — size, efficiency rating, and humidity handling all matter enormously in a climate as demanding as ours. As a Rheem Pro Partner, Vortex also carries Rheem Select, Trane, Comfortmaker, and Tempstar, giving us the flexibility to match the right equipment to your specific home and budget rather than pushing whatever happens to be in stock. Every recommendation is based on a proper assessment of your home's square footage, insulation, and existing ductwork — so you're not overpaying for capacity you don't need or underbuying a system that will struggle to keep up. When you buy equipment through Vortex, you're buying the expertise behind it.
Duct Replacement
Old, deteriorating, or improperly designed ductwork is one of the most overlooked sources of energy loss and comfort problems in Florida homes. Ducts that leak conditioned air into your attic can waste 20–30% of your cooling capacity before it ever reaches a single room. Vortex performs thorough duct assessments and replaces worn or failing duct systems with properly sealed, insulated ductwork designed for Florida's high-humidity environment. The result is more even temperatures throughout your home, lower energy bills, and a system that isn't working overtime to compensate for hidden losses. Free estimates on all duct replacements.
Duct Cleaning & Sanitizing
Florida's humidity creates ideal conditions for mold, mildew, dust mites, and allergens to accumulate inside your ductwork — and once they're there, every time your system runs, it distributes that air throughout your entire home. Vortex provides professional duct cleaning that goes beyond surface-level suction, followed by antimicrobial sanitization treatment to eliminate biological contaminants at the source. This is particularly important after water intrusion events, if you've noticed musty odors from your vents, or if anyone in your household suffers from allergies or respiratory sensitivities. Clean ducts mean cleaner air and a system that breathes the way it was designed to.
Indoor Air Quality
Most Pasco County homeowners are surprised to learn that the air inside their home is often significantly more polluted than the air outside — and Florida's climate is a big reason why. High humidity, tightly sealed homes, and year-round AC use create conditions where mold spores, dust mites, pet dander, VOCs, and other allergens accumulate quickly and recirculate constantly. Vortex offers comprehensive indoor air quality assessments to identify what's actually in your air, followed by targeted solutions including UV air purifiers, whole-home filtration systems, and humidity control equipment designed for Florida's environment. If anyone in your household deals with allergies, asthma, or unexplained respiratory irritation, the air quality in your home is the first place to look — and the right solution can make a dramatic difference in how your family feels every single day.
Maintenance Agreements
Florida's climate runs HVAC systems harder and longer than almost anywhere else in the country, and that workload takes a toll. Regular professional maintenance is the single most effective way to extend your equipment's lifespan, preserve your manufacturer warranty, catch small problems before they become expensive breakdowns, and keep your system running at peak efficiency all year long. Vortex maintenance agreements include scheduled tune-ups, comprehensive system inspections, priority scheduling when you need service, and member discounts on repairs and parts. It's a small investment that consistently pays for itself — both in lower energy bills and in avoided emergency repair costs. Think of it less like an expense and more like insurance for the one system in your home you genuinely can't live without in a Florida summer.
Smart Thermostats
Your thermostat is the brain of your entire HVAC system, and an outdated one could be costing you more than you realize. Smart thermostats give you precise control over your home's temperature and schedule from anywhere — whether you're at work, on vacation, or just on the couch — and they learn your habits over time to optimize comfort and efficiency automatically. For Florida homeowners, the energy savings alone can be substantial, since your system runs more hours per year than almost anywhere else in the country. Vortex handles the full installation and programming, ensuring your new thermostat is correctly configured for your specific system and that you know how to get the most out of it before we leave. No confusing instruction manuals, no calling a tech support line — we set it up right and walk you through everything on the spot.
Ventilation & Dryer Vents
Proper ventilation isn't just a comfort issue — it's a code compliance and safety issue. Vortex provides complete range vent installation, handling everything from hanging the unit to running the vent line externally so exhaust exits your home the way it's supposed to. That's the part many contractors skip or cut corners on, and it's exactly why we do the full job start to finish. Whether it's a kitchen range vent for your home or a commercial installation, when Vortex is done, it's done right and up to code. We also offer professional dryer vent cleaning, installation, and repair — because a clogged or improperly routed dryer vent is one of the most common causes of house fires and one of the easiest things to prevent. Two services most people don't think about until there's a problem — we'd rather you never have one.
AC Coil Cleaning
Pasco County runs its air conditioners nearly every day of the year, and that constant runtime is exactly what packs dust, pollen, and biofilm onto the evaporator coil indoors while grass clippings and Gulf salt residue coat the condenser outside. A coil with even a thin layer of buildup can drop efficiency by 20 to 40 percent, which a homeowner feels as longer run times, weaker air at the registers, and a power bill that keeps climbing for no obvious reason. Vortex cleans both coils properly, from New Port Richey and Hudson on the coast out to Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, and Zephyrhills, and we tell you what the coils actually looked like instead of adding parts you don’t need.
AC Drain Line Cleaning
Every air conditioner in Pasco County pulls gallons of moisture out of the air each day, and all of it leaves through one small PVC line. Inside that warm, dark, permanently wet pipe, algae and biofilm grow steadily, dust from the coil settles into sludge, and Florida pests find their way in. Once the line plugs, that water has nowhere to go, so it overflows the pan, trips the safety switch, and takes the system offline, usually leaving a stained ceiling or a wet floor behind it. Vortex clears drain lines throughout Pasco County, from the coastal neighborhoods around Port Richey to the inland communities near Dade City and Zephyrhills, and checks the slope and termination point so the line keeps draining.
Frozen AC Unit Repair
Ice on the copper lines or frost across the indoor coil means something is starving your system, not that it is working too hard. In Pasco County the two usual causes are restricted airflow, from a loaded filter, dirty evaporator coils, or a blower that is no longer moving what it should, and low refrigerant from a leak. Our year round runtime is what makes this so common here: filters load faster and coils collect more grime than they ever would up north, so a small airflow problem in spring quietly becomes a solid block of ice by July. Vortex thaws the unit, then finds the underlying cause so the same coil is not frozen again a week later.
UV Light & Air Purification
Nine months of the year a Pasco County evaporator coil never really dries out, and mold and bacteria grow readily on metal that stays wet. That is where the musty smell coming off the vents almost always begins. Putting a UV lamp right at the coil stops the growth before it establishes, which protects the airflow and what the air smells like when it reaches you. Pollen and pet dander are a different problem entirely and call for better filtration. Odors through the whole house call for a purifier installed in the ductwork instead. Vortex works out which of the three applies to your Pasco County home first, and skips the other two.
Heat Pump Installation & Repair
Pasco County winters are short, but the cool nights that follow a front still reach plenty of homes here that were built with cooling in mind and nothing else. A heat pump does both jobs from one system, moving heat out of the house through our long summers and bringing gentle warmth back inside when the temperature drops. Vortex installs and repairs heat pumps across the county, from New Port Richey and Hudson on the coast to Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, and Zephyrhills inland, and we size every system to the home in front of us rather than matching whatever was there before. If you are weighing a heat pump against a traditional AC setup, we’ll give you a straight assessment. Free estimates on all heat pump installations.
Ductless Mini-Split Installation
Pasco County has been remodeling for years, and a lot of that shows up as a garage turned into a room, a lanai closed in, or an addition off the back the original ductwork never reached. Those spaces rarely get comfortable on the main system. A ductless mini split conditions one zone on its own, with no ducts to run and no need to oversize the equipment to cover a room it was never designed for. Vortex installs single zone units and multi zone systems throughout Pasco County, and we lay the zones out around how the space actually gets used. Free estimates on all ductless installations.
