New HVAC Installations
The Right System, the Right Price, Installed Right
A new HVAC system is one of the biggest investments you'll make in your home or business. It affects your comfort every single day, it impacts your monthly energy bills for the next 15 to 20 years, and when it's done right, it adds real value to your property. That's why choosing the right HVAC contractor matters just as much as choosing the right equipment.
At Vortex Heating & Cooling, we take a different approach to new installations. We don't push the most expensive unit on the shelf or rush you into a decision. We take the time to evaluate your space, understand your comfort priorities, and work within your budget to recommend a system that truly fits your needs. We're a family-owned company with over 23 years of HVAC experience, and we've built our reputation across Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Hernando Counties by treating every installation as if it were going into our own home.

How Do You Know It's Time for a New HVAC System?
Replacing your air conditioner or heating system isn't always an obvious decision. Sometimes a repair makes more sense. Other times, continuing to pour money into an aging unit is like throwing good money after bad. Here are the signs that it may be time to consider a new installation.
- Your system is 10 to 15 years old or older. Most HVAC systems in Florida have a lifespan of roughly 10 to 15 years, and that's with consistent maintenance. The combination of year-round use, high humidity, and salt air in coastal areas shortens equipment life compared to other parts of the country. If your system is approaching or past that age, it's running on borrowed time - and it's almost certainly costing you more in energy than a modern replacement would.
- Repair costs are adding up. One HVAC repair is normal. Two in a year is a pattern. If you're calling for service every few months or facing a single repair that costs more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is usually the smarter financial move.
- Your energy bills keep climbing. Even if your system still runs, aging equipment loses efficiency over time. Worn compressors, deteriorating ductwork seals, and outdated technology all contribute to higher electric bills. A new, properly sized HVAC system can reduce your cooling costs significantly — and you'll notice the difference on your very first FPL or Duke Energy bill.
- Your home has hot and cold spots. If certain rooms are always too warm or too cold, no matter what you set the thermostat to, the problem may not be the thermostat. An aging or improperly sized system can't distribute air evenly, and no amount of repair will fix a fundamental sizing or design issue.
- Your system uses R-22 refrigerant. R-22 (commonly known as Freon) was phased out of production in 2020 due to its environmental impact. If your system still uses R-22, the cost of refrigerant has skyrocketed, and sourcing it will only get harder and more expensive. Upgrading to a modern system that uses R-410A or the newer R-454B eliminates that problem entirely.
- You're renovating or adding square footage. If you're remodeling your home, building an addition, or converting a garage or patio, your existing HVAC system may not have the capacity to handle the extra load. A new installation - or a supplemental system - ensures your entire space stays comfortable.
What Goes Into a Proper HVAC Installation
Not all installations are created equal. The equipment on the truck is only part of the equation. How that equipment is sized, designed, and installed determines whether you get 15-plus years of efficient, reliable comfort or a decade of callbacks and high energy bills. Here's what Vortex Heating & Cooling does to make sure your installation is done right from the start.
Right-Sized Equipment
An oversized system cools your home quickly but shuts off before it can properly remove humidity — leaving you with a cold, clammy house and higher energy bills. An undersized system runs constantly and never quite reaches your desired temperature. We perform a detailed load calculation based on your home's square footage, insulation, window placement, ductwork condition, and other factors to recommend the right-sized unit for your space.
Quality Brands You Can Count On
We install and recommend equipment from manufacturers with proven track records of reliability and performance in Florida's demanding climate. As a Rheem Pro Partner and American Standard-certified installer, we have access to some of the best equipment and warranty programs in the industry. We also install Comfortmaker and Tempstar systems, giving you options at multiple price points without sacrificing quality.
Professional Ductwork Evaluation
Your ductwork is the delivery system for your conditioned air. If your ducts are leaking, undersized, or poorly routed, even the best HVAC unit in the world won't perform the way it should. Before every installation, we inspect your existing ductwork and recommend repairs or replacement as needed. We also offer complete duct replacement as a standalone service.
Code-Compliant Installation
Every installation we perform meets or exceeds Florida building codes and manufacturer specifications. We handle all necessary permits and inspections so you don't have to worry about compliance issues down the road. Our Florida license number is CAC1814115, and we stand behind every job we do.
Thermostat Setup and System Programming
A new HVAC system paired with an outdated thermostat is like putting premium fuel in a car with a broken gas gauge. We'll help you choose and install a smart thermostat that maximizes your new system's efficiency and gives you control from your phone. We'll also program your system settings and walk you through everything so you're comfortable operating your new equipment from day one.
